Growing up I would have never guessed I would be in the position I am today, having my bags packed and ready to move to a foreign land with my wife to be missionaries. Just a year ago my life changed forever in Guatemala. Now we feel called to move back to the place where we met, where we fell in love, and where we got married.
On Monday, August 1st, Katy and I will depart and be on our way to our new home in Guatemala. We are both very excited for what God has planned for us.
We have been blessed to be surrounded by family, friends, and this community. We have loved our first apartment and the church we call home at Central Church of God. We will deeply miss everyone and will keep all of you in our prayers.
This is my command, be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
I think all of us come to a point sometime in our lives where we hit uncertainty, where we don't have the answers we're seeking, or the guidance we desire for a particular situation. We may feel this way on a daily basis or very rarely but we all go through this and we all wonder what the correct response, or decision is when we come to this place.
I used to believe that I had all the answers to situations or any crossroads that would come up, but I was wrong. It wasn't until I submitted my life to God, which can be a very hard thing to do. It’s giving up yourself, your decisions and desires, your choices and current understanding and handing them over to a God you might not fully know or understand yet. But He has a plan for you and you might not even know it or agree with it. I think when you find yourself at a crossroads the best thing to do is pray, to not let your own desires cloud your judgement but let God show you, and sometimes that means to be patient but not to lose faith.
I think when we become anxious of our future, we become blind of our past and unfocused on our present.
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.
We feel called and so we depart, we pray for guidance and seek Him, and we try each and everyday to be a reflection of Him. We want to love, how He loves us and give, how He gives to us. We put trust in the Lord and know that he has a plan.
Katy and I can't wait to continue to share our journey with you all in Guatemala and what God is doing there.
Life here is short, and He has a plan for each of us.
Don’t rest on your own understanding of circumstances, because it'll always be finite
Rest on faith.
Share His word with others, and grow His Kingdom.
Love God and love others.
