Wanderer Come Home

January 9, 2017

These last few months have been so full of adventure, making new friends, frustrating cultural differences, learning, serving and loving. I am “The World’s Worst Blogger.” There were so many moments in these last few months while I’ve journaled and wanted to share what’s on my heart and then time got away from me. So here’s to a new year and hopes for improving my blogging!

Nathan and I try to take time everyday to do a devotion together. Something that we’ve talked about a lot is how as Christians we’re in a constant state of sharpening one another and striving to become more like Christ. Life is such a beautiful journey, we love to look back and reflect on all of the big moments when God showed up in our lives just when we thought we were lost and how much we've grown since then.

My dad just recently shared an Andy Stanley messaged called “Eyes On The Road.” This message focuses on Luke 15.
Luke 15:19-24

I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.’ So he got up and went to his father.

“But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.

“The son said to him, ‘ Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’

“But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate.
Hearing this message broke my heart as I reflected on all of the lost sheep still wandering. Especially for “my people.” The ones that I love dearly that have still not come home. The ones that are still wondering if their Father will even accept them if they come home.

This new year join us in praying for the lost. May we all reflect the heart of the Father wherever he leads us and love well. My prayer is that all that believe in the lies that they’re too far gone from the Father, will hear and believe in the truth that He’s excitedly waiting for their return home.

This year, Nathan and I are going to work with the students in the Mimi’s House Sponsorship Program. We’ll be working with the families and monitoring their progress to ensure that the needs of the students are being met as they study. Please pray for us as we take on this new role.

We will be traveling back to Kentucky in a few weeks. On February 3rd we’ll be attending the annual fundraising dinner in Georgetown, KY for Pastor Sam Glenn’s team that will be traveling in the spring.

We’ll post more details of the event as we get closer. We would love to see you all there!
